Abstract

Glaucoma is the second major cause of blindness due to progressive loss of retinal cells called RDC (Retinal Ganglion Cell) if left untreated leads to permanent blindness. Early detection and treatment of glaucoma will prevent further loss of RGC and hence preserve vision. Techniques like OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), HRT (Heidelberg Retinal Tomography) for retinal imaging and analysis are costly and time consuming. Automated methods are needed for mass screening of patients for glaucoma in less time and low cost. The main objective of this paper is to review the recent developments related to research in automated glaucoma detection.
